I’m starting a new series where I design Pokemon fashion! Gijinkas are nothing new but I wanted to design looks based on Pokemon as opposed to humanizing them. I know for sure I want to do outfits for the first 151, and then after that we’ll see. It’s something I’ve been thinking about for a while (if you’ve seen my legendary bird dresses), but the fact that Pokemon’s turning 20 this year doesn’t hurt.
Going in National Pokedex order, so of course Bulbasaur is first! I wanted to build the silhouette primarily off of its bulb, and I incorporated its iconic spots through jewels encrusted on the look. And there’s ombre because I had to include some green among all that teal.
It’s a little simple because I want each evolution line to have its own theme, which means I’m going to build on this look with Bulbasaur’s evolutions!
Sorry for bailing on that “posting twice a week” thing, by the way. I turned out to be in one of those drawing ruts where I actually drew a ton of shit and then none of it turned out good…for starters I redrew this Bulbasaur dress three times. But I’m finally out of that drawing rut, at least for now. I’m hoping this series will motivate me to draw more and post more often!
